A Changing of the Guard at Rensselaer, Colorado College.

USCHO reports that RPI athletic director Ken Ralph will be stepping down from his position at RPI in order to take control of the athletic director position at Colorado College. The change is effective on August 16th of this year.

“Athletics at RPI is entering a phase of unprecedented growth and success due to increased support at the administrative level. I am confident that our students and staff will carry on in a way that will continue to show Rensselaer at its best. I will always be proud of my association with Rensselaer and the people who make it such a special place,” noted Ralph in an outgoing statement.

Longtime sports information director Kevin Beattie will take control of RPI’s AD position on an interim basis while a search committee, headed by Rensselaer Union director and RPI alumni Rick Hartt, looks for a full time replacement.

The athletic department at RPI is comprised of a mixture of D-III and D-I programs, involving almost 600 students in 26 varsity and junior varsity sports teams.

Ralph was named athletic director at RPI on May 30th, 2002.
