Goligoski Gone.

CHN reports that Minnesota defenseman Alex Goligoski has decided to forgo his final year of eligibility to sign with the Pittsburgh Penguins organization.

“Although we will miss him, we are extremely happy for Alex,” notes Minnesota head coach Don Lucia.

Goligoski was a 2006-07 All-American, the WCHA Defensive Player of the Year and an All-WCHA First Team selection on the strength of nine goals, 30 assists, and 39 points in 44 games. In addition, last season, Goligoski was tied for first in the WCHA for defenseman points-per-game (0.89).

In 118 games, Goligoski tallied 25 goals, 73 assists, and 98 points.

Goligoski was the 61st overall pick in the second round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
