College Hockey Blogflash (August 9)

Mike McMahon at his Warrior Rink Rat has a nice little write-up on incoming Merrimack recruit Matt Moulakelis. Moulakelis, a 6-foot-1, 180 pound native of Hawthorn Woods, Illinois, played for the Chicago Steel of the USHL last season, where he tallied 7 goals, 12 assists, and 19 points in 55 games. McMahon notes that, “(Moulakelis) should be the type of player who will grind it out along the walls and in the corners, but, can score points when called upon.” Read about it here.

An update of yesterday’s blogflash... Despite assertions from the Ottawa Sun stating otherwise, according to the WCHA blog, Minnesota head coach Don Lucia noted that Gopher sophomore Jimmy O’Brien will not leave school and sign with the Ottawa Senators. Read about it here.
